Finally new characters come into play when a lady, whose name is Mary Morstan, goes Homes’ office. She seeks Holmes help to solve the disappearance of her father, Captain Morstan who worked and directed the indian colony at the time. He has been gone now for 10 years, and Mary finally goes to Holmes for help, there she explained that recently a stranger had been sending her jewelry and received a letter that would then lead Mary, Holmes and Watson to a man called Thaddeus Sholto who had sent that letter. Through that letter Thaddeus said that Mary deserved justice in relationship to her father (Captain Morstan). When they all met, Thaddeus explained that he was the son of a Captain Morstan’s coworker and friend, General Sholto. Thaddeus explained that General Sholto and Captain Morstan had found a huge treasure that would make them rich while they were at India, and it was because of that treasure the death of Captain Morstan occurred.
QUOTES
“No: I am not tired. I have a curious constitution. I never remember feeling tired by work, though idleness exhausts me completely."
This is another example of Holme’s ambition and addiction to the resolution of his cases, especially the most complex and difficult ones. Its funny because Holmes dosent like ordinary life unless it is filled with adrenaline and difficulty. Does not appreciate life within simplicity.
CONCLUSION
This book just keeps getting better and better. This really is a good book, filled with mystery all the way, plus I like the way the story develops to an end because of the way Conan Doyle makes the characters interact. He has a unique writing style that suits his stories and setting great. Can't wait to read more.
