The Mystery....

Finally new characters come into play when a lady, whose name is Mary Morstan, goes Homes’ office. She seeks Holmes help to solve the disappearance of her father, Captain Morstan who worked and directed the indian colony at the time. He has been gone now for 10 years, and Mary finally goes to Holmes for help, there she explained that recently a stranger had been sending her jewelry and received a letter that would then lead Mary, Holmes and Watson to a man called Thaddeus Sholto who had sent that letter. Through that letter Thaddeus said that Mary deserved justice in relationship to her father (Captain Morstan). When they all met, Thaddeus explained that he was the son of a Captain Morstan’s coworker and friend, General Sholto. Thaddeus explained that  General Sholto and Captain Morstan had found a huge treasure that would make them rich while they were at India, and it was because of that treasure the death of Captain Morstan occurred.

QUOTES
“No: I am not tired. I have a curious constitution. I never remember feeling tired by work, though idleness exhausts me completely."
This is another example of Holme’s ambition and addiction to the resolution of his cases, especially the most complex and difficult ones. Its funny because Holmes dosent like ordinary life unless it is filled with adrenaline and difficulty. Does not appreciate life within simplicity.
CONCLUSION
This book just keeps getting better and better. This really is a good book, filled with mystery all the way, plus I like the way the story develops to an end because of the way Conan Doyle makes the characters interact. He has a unique writing style that suits his stories and setting great. Can't wait to read more.

"THE SIGN OF FOUR " ACD

I've recently started reading my new book called the Sign of Four which has been good so far. I can't say that it's a great book since I just started reading but I can tell why the author is such a famous writer, his way of writing is completely different to what I have ever read. Arthur Conan Doyle is a perfectionist when writing and explaining things, and he does it in a very detailed way. That's all I can say so far. The book starts introducing the first main characters, Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson. Holmes is a outstanding detective who manages to solve the hardest of problems and mysteries through the most unorthodox ways imagined, while Watson is a very well known doctor in London since he is one of the best, he is Holmes's assistant and narrates the whole book through his perspective. Both live in a house located in Baker street, London were they receive  their troubled clients, with unusual and complex cases.

QUOTES
“Give me problems, give me work, give me the most abstruse cryptogram, or the most intricate analysis, and I am in my own proper atmosphere. I can dispense then with artificial stimulants.”
Sherlock Holmes believes that life itself is boring and mediocre, including the people that surround his reality. This is why he goes to cocaine because it makes life less boring and more exciting in an intellectual way, though when he has a case and especially a complex one he quits using drugs until the case is solved. It is interesting, I think to view life that way, I also like it more if I'm being under a challenge.
CONCLUSION
To end, I believe the book has been interesting so far, I can't wait what the case is going to be about, how complex it will be  and what new characters will appear. GREAT beginning until now.

FINAL PRINCIPLE: FOCUS,FOCUS,FOCUS!

The last principle of getting rich fast is to focus the most you can in your company just like Bill did with Microsoft. He indeed worked super hard to achieve his and the company’s success. As Microsoft grew, and each time larger it had more problems the company was brought up to court non-stop. As Microsoft grew towards its peak in the industry it got to be running out of competition until it became a monopoly. No one could compete against this massive corporation, people did not have the choice between products, instead of seeing something new or more different , perhaps cheaper was not an option because people only could buy your stuff only. Then the Department of Justice started investigating the company owned by Bill gates trying to find a time where the company had broken any laws or rules. Microsoft was then accused then for monopoly and demanded that the company to split into different corporations. The accusation was led by a judge called Thomas Jackson, but Bill and his team started provoking him with insults and felt for it because it seemed that the judge was making the accusation personal, that way Microsoft remained as one big company one more time. As time passed Bill met his wife and got married, then in 1993 was the year that Bill’s mom died from cancer but was also the year that he and his wife, melinda , went to Africa where would start a foundation called : Bill and Melinda Gates foundation. In their trip at Africa, Bill and Melinda found out that there were many people over there that could barely survive, plus having multiple diseases such as AIDS. The foundation is now the biggest organization with the most money inversion for a good change in our world. Bill himself donated millions even billions of dollars to the foundation, plus the foundation received a lot of money to collect (billions of dollars). Bill Gates created an extremely successful company and after more than 25 years of dedication and hard work, Bill left the company to enjoy his retirement. After all those years Bill (Microsoft), became a monopoly in the computer world, making it extremely wealthy and successful. Bill now has a family and remains with a happy life, not to mention he achieved to be the richest man on earth with around 79 billion dollars.

“We would just work until we dropped.”

This is what Paul Allen (co-founder of Microsoft) said in an interview. It is the perfect example of how the last principle of getting rich applies to Bill. Since Bill was a boy he would focus on everything to be the best, to get it done. Here, is where all the principles apply but none of them work if you don't put effort, dedication and focus. This quote represents how bad Paul and Bill wanted to achieve success, this is how they built a company that never got defeated, the industry leader of the computer world. There is not a prize if there is no effort nor focus.

CONCLUSION

Overall the book did well. When I saw that it was biography of Bill Gates I wanted to read it but not in a way of steps on how to become rich but it ended up being fun. I did like the narrator's voice but it is indeed not my favorite. The book talks about amazing things that happened throughout Bill’s life and career. It is not inspiring but after reading the whole book I sure admire Bill and his remarkable work for the computer world. I recommend this book to maybe anyone who wants to know how a man made it possible to create and innovate the technology industry in such a drastic way. It is a good book, I did liked it and recommend it.

KNOW HOW AND WHEN TO SELL YOUR MOUSETRAP

Microsoft started to rise successfully therefore the company's wealth increased. Although Bill started earn some serious amounts of money for his amazing work, he did not spent it as soon as it started to pour in. Though Bill was a huge fan of speed so he loved cars, fast cars. Seventh principle of getting rich fast: Understand how to sell your mousetrap. Microsoft got to understand that if you built a product that people would see as dominant, they would make it standard and buy it. The question isn't weather it is better or not BUT ‘is it seen as the player, the force to be reckoned with?’ .This is one the most important factors that determined Microsoft’s place in the computer industry. The fact that Microsoft became the dominant seller on operating systems, seller of applications and dominant brand that every buyer would trust, is what made Microsoft the industry leader, the best one selling its mousetraps.

better image better mousetrap (example)

QUOTES

“Charles knew the difference between making better products and being an industry leader.”

Charles was a Microsoft integrant that came a bit later to the company compared with the first employees . He had worked on Xerox at PARC( Palo Alto Research Center) where they had lots of creativity and so they developed the look and feel on computers that Apple would later have. He was key in selling Microsoft’s mousetraps since he told exactly what Bill need to do in order to rule the industry and thanks to him the world bought microsoft's products more than any other companies.

CONCLUSION

Although Apple had better products, Microsoft sold a better mousetrap and so maybe they weren't the best product but they seemed like so. Apple was also considered more of a luxury product that not everyone could afford to buy and so that became the problem that Apple faced at the time, people just wanted the standard, cheap computers. Having a better image of your product is what I think will bring the most success because it is more likely to win in sales, even though it's not as good as your competition.

5th and 6th Principles of getting rich fast

Fifth principle of getting rich fast is to dream big, seize the moment and build a business. Even at a young age Bill was hardworking and determined, he had big dreams such as creating a company and to become rich. Bill had many aspirations for his feature and he would do whatever he could to accomplish them.  Bill wanted to build a company ever since he was an eighth grader , he and his computer genius friends called themselves the Lakeside Programmers Group. One of their most important job was to make a schedule for two different schools that were merging, a girls school called St.Nichols and Lakeside, Bill and his friends knew the job was difficult but they were determined to get it done at all cost. As Bill was about to graduate, he and his friend Paul Allen were invited to work on a immense project for a energy drink company. During that time Bill got to meet great professional programmers that in the end helped Bill get better at programming. What Bill and Paul learned in that project became super valuable in the future. Bill finished school great, he got outstanding SAT scores which impressed many schools such as Princeton, Yale and Harvard. Bill finally took Harvard´s invitation and started studying there but then in 1974 Bill and Paul read an article that changed their lives . It was about the Altair 8080, the world's first minicomputer kit. This was the chance for Bill and Paul to start something great, something that would lead the computer world. As soon as they saw the article Bill and Paul told the MITS (owners of the altair) company that they had a software or operating system ready for the Altair when they really had nothing. Bill and Paul had 1 month until the delivery and in the end they did it. After they achieved this goal in only 1 month they now had the confidence to dream big and were determined to create a company named Microsoft.Although Bill and Paul were both co-founders of Microsoft the most logical division of the profit would be 50/50 but Bill wanted more up to 60/40 since he had invested 300$ more in the company than Paul and other reasons.  Bill had the ability to understand very well contracts and that permitted him to take the best advantage out of something. When Microsoft made it official to license its software to the MITS company for the Altair they worked the contract specified for MITS to do its best  to, in effect, rent versions of microsoft’s work to other computer manufacturers. This meant that MITS had to do its best to license Microsoft’s software to other computer manufactures so that Microsoft could get more clients. But MITS did not seemed to follow to what was in the contract which is why Bill’s dad law firm after Microsoft sued MITS for this issue, plus MITS  lost the case only after 2 years. This shows the 6th principle of getting rich fast and that is to make the best out of any contract because it might benefit you in the near future.

QUOTES

“I am going to make a million dollars by the time I am twenty,”

This is what Bill announced one day at school in Lakeside, Seattle. After knowing Bill’s personality through the book, I knew he really meant it. He has always been a big dreamer, he thinked big, imagined big and he would be willing to achieve big. Since Bill was a boy he wanted to create a company and show the world what he could do, and he did anxiously at 19 when he dropped out of college specifically Harvard , to create Microsoft with his friend, Paul Allen. The company’s first profit came from their amazing job by creating a software for the Altair 8080 on just one month.

“a hell of a good programmer” but he was also, “a pain in the ass...He's an obnoxious human being...He'd put people down when it was not necessary.”

This is what the director of the Harvard computer lab said about Bill. He could be brilliant at work but the way he treated people was a mess. Bill didn't really cared about what he said to people and how he said it, he believed there was no one better than him.

CONCLUSION

If Bill wanted something he would get it, and wouldn't stop until he had it. The fact that he would not stop chasing what he wanted or his objective could be one of the factors that made Bill Gates who he is today (the richest man in the world). I do believe that giving up on something you really want isn't the solution after you have been rejected once, you should keep trying until you get it.

THIRD AND FOURTH PRINCIPLES OF GRTTING RICH FAST

The third principle of getting rich fast is to get a good education. Bill  Gates first went to a public school, he was super smart boy that read the full encyclopedia just for fun. Although Bill was super smart he was lazy at school, seemed not pay any attention and not to mention that his desk was always a mess. Bill’s parents realized that they had a bright kid in trouble which is they moved Bill to the perfect private school,  the Gates family had no problem paying for this expensive. The school’s name was called Lakeside. Lakeside, although prestigious could not afford a computer but they bought an ASR which was linked to a computer. The rest of the kids weren't interested in the modern world or technology  but the Bill was the opposite. Bill became friends with Paul Allen and Ric Weiland. These 3 teenagers had a passion for technology, specially computers. They had the advantage to be at the same level of computing as the engineers who worked with computers since the computer world was just about to be born. The fact that using a computer at that time was extremely hard, which just made it more interesting to Bill and his friends. Being in Seattle was also an advantage because a company called C-Cubed operated there and had computers, Bill and his friends were invited to test the computers for free which was like a dream to them. They would spend all of their free time on the computer but then the company no longer needed them and so Bill and his friends would have to pay for using these computers. It is believed that Paul hacked into C-Cubed personal files so that they no longer had to pay but they got caught so the Lakesiders were banned for 3 months being away from what they loved. The C-Cubed president said that Bill and his friends were fearless and always kept trying. To keep trying is another reason of why Bill accomplished success.

QUOTES
“Don't you ever think,” he'd demanded.

Bill never cared what people thought about him, he became arrogant with his intelligence and always thought that no one but him was right. From public school to a private school to Harvard, Bill, always had critics over someone's opinion. His favourite phrases would be: “That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard off !” or “How dumb”. People knew that Bill was an indeed brilliant being but the way he interacted with people about certain topics was extremely rude.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion I in fact think that education is a key element for success in the future. My mom once told me that education is an investment that will then grow to reward you with a successful career, a decent job and the ability to maybe even sustain a family of your own thanks to a good education. I also think that education is one of the most important bases of society and countries because if you have good education on a country it will be able  grow with its future generations and improve many important aspects of a country in a positive way.

First two principles of getting rich fast

Ive  read until chapter 2 of the book called “Up close with Bill Gates” and it has been quite interesting. This is a book written by Marc Aronson and talks about how Bill Gates got to be rich by steps. In the book these are the steps to get “rich fast”. So the first chapter talks about that you need to have the right parents in order to be successful. This means that if your parents have money then it will be easier to guide to success. Bill Gates in fact did came from a wealthy family, not the richest family but wealthy enough. Then the second chapter says that the second principle of getting rich fast is to be located in a good place. For instance Seattle, which is where Bill came from was a very big influence that reflected on his success. This  was because Seattle was city full of engineers and innovators that wanted to change the world, to do so there were a lot of world fairs filled with radical ideas which Bill Gates attended to. Seattle played a big role in Bill’s success.

QUOTES

“A hard man, difficult and demanding.”

This is how another lawyer that worked with Bill the third (Bill gates dad) which was also a lawyer and a very successful one. The fact that another lawyer said that Bill the Third embraced these  qualities demonstrates or makes me think that Bill (computer genius ) inherited that behaviour or personality. It is also described that Bill used to behave as mentioned towards its employees. After all  both men were successful throughout their career.

And as Bill's dad recalled, “Winning mattered”

This quote represents the idea that got to be planted inside Bill's brain from the start.  In Bill's family everyone was competitive, always with the idea that only winning mattered and second place wasn't good enough. Throughout Bill's career winning got to be everything that he cared about no matter what, he would do anything to take over the lead.

CONCLUSION
In conclusion the book has been quite interesting until now. I like the fact that there is a person that can describe the various factors that made a successful man like Bill Gates rich. The steps from the book are key to what made Bill Gates so ahead of the game compared to its competitors in the technology industry. Good book so far.
